A Space of Memory We Make Together

We are proud to announce a 52-page color booklet published by the San Francisco Korean American History Museum. It is titled "A Space of Memory We Make Together," and documents the history and developments of Korean immigrant communities in the United States, as well as the museum's works, including oral histories, archival materials, exhibitions, lectures, youth programs, and independence-movement records. We seek to preserve personal photos and stories that later generations can use to understand "Who are we?"
Youth History Service Program

Our youth history-and-service program and fellowship, titled "Dosan," serves as a model that combines Korean American history education, field research, community service, and youth media work. These youth leaders create short-form videos and documentaries, acting as youth-facing history communicators. For the 2026 trip, members investigated the former sites of the Gongnip Association and the San Francisco Korean United Methodist Church, followed by the Palace Hotel, Ferry Building, and Angel Island.

Knowing history is the power to shape the future, advancing Korean-American youth identity. Richard Lee, who was the president of the youth service program, describes the immense potential that the San Francisco Korean-American History Museum holds. It connects youth with the hardships, achievements, and the overlooked stories of Korean American immigration history. In particular, the unique pathway for students to conduct their own research, share their own interpretation, and connect their personal experiences to the wider Korean American immigrant story is invaluable.
